During Your Rental

Safe Operation & Maintenance

Before Each Ride

  • Check fuel level (refuel as needed with premium 91+ octane gas)
  • Walk around sled to check for damage or loose parts
  • Ensure tether kill switch cord is attached to you
  • Test brake function before riding

CRITICAL: Engine Cooling

These snowmobiles use heat exchangers mounted under the running boards. The track throws snow onto these exchangers to cool the engine coolant.

When trail riding on groomed or hard-packed trails: There may not be enough loose snow to adequately cool the engine. You MUST periodically ride off-trail into deep powder to allow snow to reach the heat exchangers.

  • Watch your temperature gauge. If it climbs into the warning zone, stop immediately and let the sled cool down.
  • Every 15-20 minutes of trail riding, ride into deep snow for a few minutes to cool the engine.
  • Scratchers are installed to help kick up snow on trails, but they are not a substitute for deep snow cooling.
  • Overheating can cause severe engine damage and will result in repair charges.

Safe Riding Practices

  • Always wear your helmet and safety gear
  • Keep tether kill switch attached to your body at all times
  • Ride within your skill level and comfort zone
  • Never ride alone—always stay within sight of your riding partner
  • Obey all trail signs and speed limits
  • Stay on marked trails unless in designated off-trail areas
  • Avoid riding at night or in low visibility conditions
  • Never operate under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Be aware of avalanche danger in mountainous terrain

If You Experience Problems

  • Mechanical issue: Stop safely, assess the problem, and call Bernie immediately at (715) 404-5632
  • Broken drive belt: You have 2 spare belts. If you're comfortable, replace it yourself (Bernie can walk you through by phone). Otherwise, call for assistance.
  • Stuck in deep snow: Rock the sled back and forth, dig out around the track, or use your riding partner's sled to pull you out
  • Injury or emergency: Call 911 first, then notify Bernie

Refueling

  • Use premium 91+ octane gasoline only (no ethanol if possible)
  • Turn off engine and let it cool before refueling
  • Do not overfill—leave room for fuel expansion
  • Wipe up any spills immediately
  • You are responsible for refueling. Return sleds with full tanks or pay refueling fee.
